Western Canada Division Nominations

Dear Western Canada Division Members,

The deadline for nominations for Western Canada Division Board positions has passed.

Nominations have been received for the offices of President, President-Elect, Vice-President and Treasurer.

Nominations were not received for the office of Secretary. The office of Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at monthly Board meetings (held via MSN), sharing information with chapters and members, acting as a board liaison with one or more chapters and preparing the Annual Meeting material (in conjunction with the Division President), among other duties. The Secretary is required to attend the Annual Meeting (to be held in Lethbridge, May 2013) and record the official Minutes of the meeting. This is a great position in which to learn some new skills and be part of an executive board. While it is hoped all board members would share their skills and experiences with WCD members by holding various offices on the Board, it is not imperative for the office of Secretary.

If you would like to stand for this position, here is the procedure to follow:

Notify me of your candidacy;

Receive the endorsement of your chapter;
Complete the nomination form, obtain necessary signature and submit to me;

As the deadline for nominations has passed, a motion with two seconds will be required at the Annual Meeting (at which those nominated are strongly urged to be in attendance). Generally the Chapter Delegate makes the motion for nomination. If received in March, candidate information will be included in the Annual Meeting materials for reference. Nomination from the floor at the Annual Meeting will be required.

I would like to thank those members who stepped forward to stand as a candidate for a WCD Board position. I would like to thank those chapters who nominated their members for office.

Candidate information will be available in April and will be posted on the WCD website and included in the Annual Meeting Materials.

Below you will find the official call for Nominations, Instructions and Information for Candidates for WCD office and the Nomination Form.

If you want to know more or have questions on what is involved, please contact me.

Kind regards,

Dawn Becker, CAP-OM
